A Word From Me:
Hey! It is awesome to have you visit our site. I am the Lead Pastor of Life Point Church and I am so excited about what God is doing through this church and in my life. I would love to get the chance to meet or correspond with you. I love the opportunity that I get to meet people and grow with them in their journey with God.
Just to help you get to know me, I thought I would share some things about me.
First of all, I love to play sports. My favorite sport is baseball, but I will play just about anything. My only problem is that I often injure myself. I am also in the weird category of being a musician. My primary instrument is the bass (yeah! all you bass players out there!), but I also play guitar (I have to be like everyone else, ya know?). I love food - but who doesn't? My favorite type of food is Italian, but I love trying new food all the time (now Peurto Rican rice is one of my favorites!). I have lived in three different states (IL, TX, MN). One of the things that I want to do before I die is skydive (some people say that will be the last thing I do). I actually love to read, but I didn't start really reading until I was 21. I love to write and will hopefully write a book someday. I am currently working on one - but who knows how long that will take me.
You can get to know me better by checking out my personal blog or the contribution I make on our churches Bible study site .
You can also e-mail me any time
If that is not enough, you can read some of my articles by going to the relevant web site and putting my name in the search or by going to the Teen Revolution site and looking in the archives.
Ministry Experience:
Risen Savior 1996-1999
Kevin Diederich began his first ministry assignment in May of 1996. He moved to Chicago to work with a struggling church called Risen Savior. At the time, this church had 12 people and was in the stages of being restarted.
In August of that year, Kevin began a youth ministry in this church called Extreme Impact. Although the church had no teenagers at the time, he went out into the community and began meeting teenagers in the park by playing basketball with them. His first youth service started with two guys. In three weeks that number had increased to 15.
For about a year, Kevin worked with kids involved in the Latin Kings and held weekly Bible studies with them. He saw God open many doors and change many lives through this experience.
Over the three years that Kevin served in this church, he developed many student leaders who are active in church ministry to this day. He has also trained many adult leaders that have gone on to be youth pastors. He left Risen Savior with over 30 students in attendance each week. The youth ministry in this church is still reaching many students in this community on the South Side of Chicago.
Christian Life Assembly 1999-2003
Kevin left Risen Savior in April of 1999 to serve in a church called Christian Life Assembly. This church is located in Coal City, IL. Unlike Chicago, this church already had a bunch of teenagers already attending, but the church did not have a youth pastor in a few years. In this church he developed the youth ministry Drop Zone.
At Christian Life Assembly, two weekly youth services were formed. One service was devoted to developing the Christian students life. The other service was to introduce students to Christ. At the peak of this youth ministry, 35-40 students were coming every week. Many of the students have gone on to be a part of ministry in many churches.
While at Christian Life, Kevin was involved in many of the High School campuses. He was a supporter and part of the local Bible clubs, often as a guest speaker. He also was a guest speaker at some High School events.
The need presented itself to begin a satellite youth ministry from this location. In some cases, students were traveling as much as 30-45 miles just to come to church. So the plan was put in place to go into a community where a student lived and start reaching them in a way that made it easy for them to come. One student took up the project in an area called Wilton Center. The Wilton Center group was formed in November of 2001, reaching many students who attended Peotone High School.
Kevin also grew in ministry experience at Christian Life Assembly. He was given the opportunity to grow in many areas of leading the church. By the last year of his ministry at this church, Kevin was preaching about every six weeks on Sunday mornings. He left in April of 2003 to begin Life Point Church.
Other Ministry Experience 1998 - Present
Some of Kevins other ministry experience includes being an Abstinence teacher. Since 1998, Kevin has been speaking in Middle and High schools throughout the Chicagoland area. He has spoken to over 10,000 students and continues to teach students this important message.
One of his other ministry opportunities is that he is also a frequent writer for Relevant Magazine Online. He has written articles that have challenged people in their spiritual lives as well as create some articles that stirred up some great conversations by dealing with hot topics of the day. There is a link to this magazine at the top of this page.
Current Ministry 2003 - Present
Kevins current ministry position began in May of 2003 and is the Lead Pastor of Life Point Church.
